For treatment of facial blood vessels, facial spider veins, broken capillaries, acne scars, rosacea, sunspots, age spots, redness of the face and neck, and poikiloderma we use the Vbeam® Pulse Dye Laser.
Whereas procedures such as surgery, electrocautery, cryotherapy (freezing the area) may result in scarring, the Vbeam® laser leaves the surrounding tissue intact and allows for normal pigmentation of the treated area to occur.
The procedure
The Vbeam® is an intense but gentle burst of light that selectively destroys the targeted blood vessels without damaging the surrounding tissue. A special dynamic cooling device is used during treatment to cool the skin and to minimise discomfort.
Safety around lasers is important, so you will be provided with protective eyewear for your procedure.
A number of treatments may be required to fade blood vessels and birthmarks. These treatments are usually spaced six weeks apart. Some birthmarks may fade but not be completely erased by the laser.
The healing process
Side effects are rare and pain is uncommon. However, following treatment, there may be some temporary redness or swelling at the treatment site that may last two to three days. Ice packs should be applied to the treated areas for the first 24 hours to reduce discomfort and swelling.
Avoid vigorous cleansing or rubbing of the area. It’s also important to avoid sunlight or solariums in the healing phase, so wear an SPF 30+ sunscreen. Apply a gentle cleanser and moisturiser daily.
For laser treatment of benign pigmented lesions including benign birthmarks, age spots, sunspots as well as laser freckle removal, we use the GentleMax™ laser.
The Pigmentation Laser Treatment and Laser Freckle Removal Procedure
The GentleMax™ laser is a long-pulse laser an intense but gentle burst of light penetrates deeply into skin tissue, where it delivers a controlled amount of target, therapeutic heat. A special dynamic cooling device is used during treatment to cool the skin and to minimise discomfort. Safety around lasers is important, so you will be provided with protective eyewear for your procedure.
Two to three treatments are usually required to achieve the desired results for most conditions.

Laser hair removal treatment provides long-term hair removal for large or small areas, without the difficulties or commitment involved with other methods. A safer, faster and more effective way to eliminate unwanted hair, laser treatment is most effective when the hair colour is significantly darker than the skin, e.g. dark hair on fair-skin, or black hair on darker skin. For permanent laser hair removal, we use the GentleMax™ laser.
The Laser Hair Removal Procedure
The GentleMax™ laser emits an intense but gentle burst of light that penetrates harmlessly through the skin, but is absorbed by the hair follicle. By selectively absorbing the laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled, impairing their ability to grow hair, yet leaving the surrounding tissue intact and with little irritation to the skin.
Permanent hair removal treatment consists of a number of laser pulses accompanied by a tingling or slight burning sensation. A special dynamic cooling device is used during treatment to cool the skin and to minimise discomfort. Laser hair removal is usually not as painful as waxing.
Safety around lasers is important, so you will be provided with protective eyewear for your procedure.
The length of the treatment session depends on the size of the area to be treated. The lip can take less than one minute, whereas hair removal on larger areas such as the leg can take significantly longer.
Five to eight treatments over 12-18 months may be necessary for the desired result.
